The Old Kilfarboy Society will have its first outing of the 2014 season to the tip of West Clare.
We will meet at Loop Head Lighthouse Car Park at 2pm on Sunday, 27 April for the Loop Head Lighthouse trail.
Laura Foley will retell the folklore and the history of the area pointing out the Victorian Swing Crane used to transport tourists to Diarmuid and Grainne’s Rock and the Victorian Hanging Gardens of Henry Keane. She will also include geology, history of the lighthouse, the World War II Lookout Post and related ÉIRE sign.
The tour will take approx two hours to complete. The walk is moderate to easy and is off road mostly walking on soft heather.
Other possible locations depending on group interests and time are: Bridges of Ross, The Church of the Little Ark, Graves of the Yellow Men and the Holy Well of St Cuan.
The cost is €5 per adult and all are welcome.
