Stornaway

Everybody in urgent need of rest after the journey from Iceland

To a hotel for breakfast. Tried for hours to make contact with Kildimo. Everybody else was having some degree of success with phones but not mine!

The morning was showery but it cleared up to a nice warm breeze and we succeeded in drying out everything on board.

Found showers, washing machine, internet – life getting better!

Evening meal in the Royal Hotel then to McNeill’s pub for ballad session.

After his R na G report Danny got a text from Donal O hAnnaféin saying that he was in Lewis with a group of children from Gael Scoil Mhichíl Ciosóg – they're going to visit us on Wednesday before they leave.

Stornaway 28th June

A quiet day doing nothing much. Weather warm and dry but not much sun.

A big cleanup of the boat, in preparation for Danny’s guests tomorrow morning – the children from Gael Scoil Michíl Cíosóg with Donal O hAnnaféin.

Helped Frank repair the cooker, then went for a haircut.

Another night in Mac Neill’s pub with some local musicians.

29th June.

Everybody up early, ready for the students who arrived exactly on time, Donal O hAnnifein, Edel and Carmel and twenty four scholars. The played and sang for a half hour - a credit to Ennis! Fortunately the weather was dry and everyone could be on deck. Afterwards they took the ferry for Glasgow.

We motored out of the harbour about mid-day and headed for Lough Maddy.
