OUTING TO DEER ISLAND - 15th June 2014

Deer Island (Inishmore, Inchmore) will be the destination of the next Old Kilfarboy Society outing, which takes place on Sunday, 15 June.  

Deer Island is the largest of the Fergus Estuary islands and the remains of a former private school, in addition to a church ruin can be seen on the 462 acre island.  From a population of 133 in 1841 it had fallen to one in 2002.  Brigid Anne Tuohy was the last inhabitant of the Fergus islands.  She died in August 2004 and was buried on Canon Island.

Those attending are asked to meet at Roscliff Quay, Ballynacally at 5.30pm for departure and we will return at approximately 7.30 pm.  The quay is at the end of the Ballynacally N.S. road, about 1 km East of the village. 

Cost is €15 per person and all are welcome.
